Child & Youth Counselling Melbourne: South Eastern Suburbs & Bayside Peninsula

Hello and Welcome!

I am a Social Work practitioner with 18 years experience working with children, teens and adults. My passion is companioning children & young people on their journey, whilst working collaboratively with their parent / carers.  I value creative, experiential approaches to therapy such as Creative Arts Therapy, Narrative Therapy & Play Therapy based approaches & weave them into how I work.

Medicare Rebate

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) I can offer Medicare Rebate for some services, with a GP or Paediatrician referral under ‘Better Access to Mental Health’. Please obtain a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP for ‘Focused Psychological Strategies’ to obtain Medicare Rebate - for up to 10 sessions per year.

Therapeutic Approach

Creative approaches engage young people & support them to safely explore what is most meaningful for them. I am Trauma informed and committed to Neurodiversity Affirming ways of working. Together I want to help your child build resilience & connect with their Hopes & Dreams!

I work with you and your child as a means of enhancing mental health and well being, building respectful relationships, mindfulness, and incorporating supportive parenting practices. Collaboration with a parent / carer is an essential part of this work. Parent work can often be so helpful even if the child finds counselling challenging.

Parent work can happen in person or via telehealth (online & after hours sessions available). I can work collaboratively with other services as required (Schools, NDIS, Family Services etc). I am a passionate advocate for children’s rights and can help you understand & incorporate adjustments your child may need (for example recommendations relating to their NDIS plan).

I work with children and young people from 3 years and up and work with all presentations including:

  • Identity - Neurodiversity or gender identity

  • Worries, Adjustments, Depression, Anxiety

  • Trauma or Grief & Loss (including separation, family violence)

  • Relationships - family or friendships

  • School challenges ... & many more.

Parent support: Why work with me?

  • Would you like support to respond differently to your child or teen’s big emotions?  I am a Tuning into Kids facilitator and weave this Emotion Coaching & relationship building approach into my work

  • Would you like to better understand your own triggers and feel calmer and more present?

  • Would you like to get more out of your family relationships

  • Has your child or family experienced a trauma that you would like support to recover from?

  • Do you want to reconnect with your hopes, dreams or values and weave them into a more positive parenting approach?

  • If you have Neuro Diverse family members I will take this into consideration and consult you to learn what that means for you and your family members. I am strongly committed to operating in Neurodiversity Affirming ways - which means seeing you as the expert in your experience. I have experience supporting parents to navigate the NDIS journey & advocate for their child.

Locations

I work from different locations in the South East and Bayside Suburbs of Melbourne. I work in spaces that are set up to encourage creativity, whilst talking.  Parents can be part of the sessions, especially to help your child feel safe initially.  Parent sessions are a separate space for feedback and compliment the Children’s Counselling process.   Parent sessions can occur online, via Telehealth after hours sessions are available.

I look forward to hearing your journey and working with you!

Warmly,  Evon Fallon
